Data warehousing solutions results in improved customer insight

 

Issue

A major computer manufacturer asked Maxil Technology Solutions to implement a successful data warehousing solution so that they could take a 360˚ view of their customers in order to provide comprehensive profiles to all the business units. The company understood the importance of improving customer loyalty, which translates into market strength and leadership. To achieve this goal they knew they needed a better understanding of each customer.

 

Problem

Holding the company back was the many disparate pre-merger and post-merger source systems, external source providers and manual source feeds. A 360˚ view would provide customer-related data to be used by all business groups, reducing the need for individual group efforts, while leveraging customer insight across the organization.

 

What was needed

• Integrate different source systems from install base, Financial, Marketing and other departments acrossmultiple platforms

• Provide a common platform across regions and countries, eliminating the need for each to create their own solution

• Reduce inconsistent business processes across regions in different Marketing categories including but not limited to segmentation, campaign planning and management, and contact privacy policy adherence

• Increase effectiveness in establishing communication with prospective clients.

 

Maxil Solution

Maxil helped the client develop the 360˚ view of the customer data warehouse application for all the business units across the organization.

This system provides:

• Customer Repository information for all order and shipment details

• Financial information, corporate account reporting such as the top 50 customers by revenue and product preferences

• Business groups applications such as Knowledge Point Express for campaign management, contact privacy policy information

 

The Value

Investment Banking Experience-

 

 For a large West Coast based Investment Management Company:

 

Charles River IMS Implementation: involved integration of Charles River Trading and Compliance System with Bloomberg, oneTIS trading system, GlobalMAX accounting System, GlobalPLUS system, which manages high net worth clients and other external vendor systems. The modules involved are Bloomberg API, Onetime Data Population, Realtime API, Batch front office, Batch Back Office and Emerging Markets. Charles River User Management tool helps manage the users for Charles River IMS application. This tool is used to create new users, Edit profiles, Edit roles, Search Profiles and Audit reporting. This tool also allows users to take historical audit reports and print them. This is an online web based intranet application. Environment: Java, EJB 2.0, Servlets 2.3, JSP 1.2, JDBC, Struts Framework, JavaScript, Perl, Oracle 9i, Perl, UNIX Shell Scripting, Progress, Weblogic 7.0, Tomcat and RoboCopy

 

For a large West Coast based Investment Management Company:

 

Working with the Compliance Team that employed CRD Compliance Engine to support all the online real-time compliance processing needs done before and after trade by the portfolio counselors, managers and traders. Environment: J2EE, Bea WebLogic, Sybase, Rapid SQL, Perforce, CRD Compliance Engine, Windows XP/2000, HP UNIX, Shell/Perl, Sun Solaris, WinRunner, QTP, LoadRunner (VuGen, Performance Center & Analysis) and Quality Center.

 

For a large Midwest based Investment bank:

 

Performed the Benchmark Test for Charles River IMS. Environment: J2EE, C, C++, Rapid SQL, HTML, Unix, Citrix, FIX Server, Compliance Simulators, MS Office, MS word, Excel, Power Point, Access and Adobe Photoshop.

 

For a large New York based Investment house:

 

Documented and flowcharted existing functionality, developed functional specifications and prioritized technical enhancements supporting this division-wide conversion. Facilitated analysis meetings and interfaced extensively with operations management to identify business requirements. This system interfaced with Charles River, Bloomberg PTS, Wall St. Systems and TBA Trader for trade entry and employed SWIFT for settlement and Eagle-Pace for data warehousing. It processed all asset types for both domestic and international transactions.
